March & April 2024

Less than 30 days of school left, parents, get ready to have your kids back full time!  I'm already jealous of all of the summer plans I'm hearing about.

Sorry for missing last month's update, it got so late that I figured I would just hold off and post a double update for April.

We had 5th Grade Fine Arts Night on May 2nd, it was awesome to show off everything that the 5th graders have been doing this year (and great to get all those mugs off my window counter! 😅) I hope it was ok that I stuck a little sweet treat in them as well, I wanted to make up for all the stress I was giving off leading up to Fine Arts Night.

So with that we're officially finished with all clay projects!

I will post one more update for the year so see you then!

February 2024

I am in desperate need for this school year to slow down!!!  I am not ready to say goodbye to my first year of teaching, there is so much I feel I have left to do!  Speaking of things to do...  The Cedarburg Cultural Center is having its annual Student Gallery of Art Show!  Come see the wonderful art made this school year by Thorson students!

The artwork will be available to view from March 9th - April 21st with the opening reception being held Sunday, March 17th from 1:00-4:00 pm.  Hope to see you there!  I'll leave a sneak peek of the gallery wall to keep an eye out for!

January 2024

This month felt like it flew by with your students!  We missed some art time from those snow days and this month my immune system decided it had enough and I had to miss two days from being sick.  (All in all my doctor said I was doing pretty good as a first year teacher if I was only coming in at the end of January to see them)  I am still getting over this cough I can’t seem to kick but I am wearing a mask in the classroom because I don’t think I can afford to get strep throat on top of things.  (I’ll keep my germs to myself if your kids do the same! 😆)  I will check in with you all next month!

I did have a very qualified nurse taking care of me in my time of need:

December 2023

Happy New Year everyone!  Sorry about this post being so late, but it also gave me a chance to give you a sneak peak of some new projects that were started during the first week back!  I have learned so much these past few months (such as what projects to focus on first, such as sketchbooks…) and can’t wait to apply what I’m learning to next school year!  As always, the posts are separated by grade level by the tabs at the top, see you next month!

November 2023

Another month down!  We said goodbye to our “Where’s Mr. Pawsitive” display and we are returning animal drawings back to students!

Our 5th Graders took time this month to design yearbook covers for the staff and PTO to vote on, great job everyone!  You can check them out on Facebook if you missed them.

Thank you to everyone who made it to my conferences. It was great to meet some more of you and talk about what we are doing in art class to see your child’s art in person!  I am planning on sending more work home soon before winter break.

See you next month!

October 2023

Another month of art class in the books!  Your students have had a BLAST this October getting to do their Halloween projects and getting to cash in their first class rewards (And maybe getting some prizes out of me as well).

Once again, you can find your child's art by grade using the tabs at the top, I hope those have been helpful for you!

I can't wait to share with you what we do next month, I have a lot of fun things planned!

I hope to meet some of you during conferences this month and show you your child's art in person!

Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email with any questions you have!

September 2023

Hello everyone!  I am so excited to share with you what your AMAZING artists have been up to this first month of school.  I have organized my blog by grade level and you can find each of those tabs up near the top in the cross tabs.

In the future I will make a post similar to this one when I have everything uploaded for you to see!  This month's posts are a little more generic at the beginning due to our school wide project but in the following months that will not be the case.

I have had such a blast getting to know your students as artists this first month of school and I can't wait to see what else they are going to teach me, I've learned so much as a first year teacher!  I am so excited to get into more seasonal projects during October as Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday and I can't wait to share that excitement with your students.

Last but not least, I have been a little bit slacking in the photo department but I'm going to blame that on first month of school jitters, I will try to take more pictures going forward because I feel awful about not having any photos of our 5th graders (our first project is very intensive and they are great at asking questions to keep me busy!)

Don't hesitate to leave a comment or email me with questions, see you here for next month's post!
